In the beginning....

The day before I delivered the babies at 30 weeks and 6 days, weighing in at 213 pounds!!

My lovely hospital room. I was so relieved because the babies were finally born.

It's been so fun because Jeremiah fixed our video camera so that we can actually watch the videos we filmed on our TV. It has been so enjoyable to watch the videos of our babies when they were first born and to see how little they were and how much they've changed. I thought I would do a post on how everything was in the beginning.
Jeremiah and I got married on April 24, 2004. I was 27 and he was 29. We thought we would wait a year to start our family, but starting our family didn't just happen for us. By the time I hit 30, we decided we should probably look into fertility treatments. We're glad we did because without fertility treatments we may never have been able to have a family. After only two months of fertility drugs, we got pregnant with our quadruplets. I was thrilled when I found out that I was finally pregnant and then absolutely overwhelmed and shocked 6 weeks later when we found out that we would be starting our family with four babies!! Jeremiah, on the other hand, was totally excited and couldn't believe something like this could actually happen to him.
My pregnancy was a struggle for me because I was on bed rest for 12 weeks of my almost 31 week pregnancy. I constantly worried during this time that the babies would arrive too early and how I would be able to raise four babies at once and give them all the love and attention they deserved. Thank goodness my wonderful husband was always thrilled about having quadruplets and assured me that we could do it with Heavenly Father's help. Without his and God's help, I wouldn't be the sane person I am today. After being on bed rest for 9 weeks in the hospital and gaining 83 pounds over the course of my pregnancy, our precious miracles were born on June 6, 2007.
Cambria was born at 4:19 pm weighing 3 pounds 7 ounces. Addison was born at 4:21 pm weighing 3 pounds 11 ounces. Weston was born at 4:21 pm also, weighing 3 pounds 4 ounces. Brynlee was born at 4:22 pm weighing 3 pounds even. They spent the first 5 weeks of their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Banner Desert Medical Center where they were born and where I spent many weeks of my pregnancy. Jeremiah and I feel indebted to our many doctors and nurses in this hospital that took such excellent care of me and our babies. Our babies are such miracles to us. Although they were born 9 weeks premature, they did great and were so healthy and just needed time in the NICU to grow before they could come home to us. We know that we only have God to thank for them in our lives.
Being the mother of quadruplets is so much better than I ever imagined it could be during the time when I was pregnant with them. Cambria, Addison, Weston and Brynlee bring us so much happiness and we couldn't imagine our lives without any of them. It really is something very special to raise four babies together. Their interactions with each other are priceless.
I know that I wouldn't quite enjoy this time in our lives as much as I do without a wonderful husband who is such a hands-on dad and super-helpful husband. I love you so much hon! I also have my wonderful parents to thank for all that they are doing to support us. My mom spent a few months with me at first and has been such a great support to me. My mom and dad continue to help us in many ways with our family. I also have my amazing in-laws to thank who are always so willing to come over and help us with the babies or to watch them so that Jeremiah and I can go on dates. I also have the world's most fabulous nanny who comes to my house Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 4 pm, to help me with my babies and with my house. She makes my life livable. She is such a life-saver and sanity-saver. Thank you Karina for all you do for me and Jeremiah and for my babies! We all love you very much! Our family has received so much service from our ward, our siblings, our friends and from great people in our lives that have helped us to be able to enjoy the blessing of having four sweet babies in our lives.
